Lost in the Waves

Woo hoo.

[UPDATE:  Now includes video]

First official Kooman + Dimond blog entry on the first official Kooman + Dimond Blog.

We decided we’d kick things off by releasing a song that some of you may have heard live at one of our recent concerts: Lost in the Waves.

Check out the video from a performance at the Laurie Beechman Theatre:

Or listen to a much cleaner, studio recording here:

This was a difficult song for us to write, for a number of reasons.  If you know us at all, you probably know that we rather enjoy writing songs about charming Stalkers and Sadomasochists.  These are the things that come naturally.  Not sure what that says about us.

This song… not so easy.  We wrote it while in residence at the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project, under the tutelage of Andrew Lippa, Craig Carnelia, and Lari White.  They challenged us to write a song about something that scared us.  This is what came out.  We wrote it in one day.  It was a long day.

Here, the song is sung by our good friend Anderson Davis, who is currently playing Lt. Cable on the South Pacific tour.

Let us know what you think of the song.  If you’re interested in purchasing the sheet music, click here.

This is probably my favorite song–there’s something about it that’s heartbreaking and beautiful and just transcends words in a way I really can’t describe. I am so excited to see that it’s finally on YouTube–thank you for that. Just. I love this song and it really showcases how amazing you both are.

Is there any way of getting this song in a key suitable for a girl?! I know it seems more suiting lyrically to be sung by a guy but I LOVE this piece!…
